How do chiropractors prevent and treat injuries?

Hi, I’m doing a research project on chiropractors and I can’t seem to find how chiropractors deal in the prevention of injuries, treatment of injuries, and rehabilitation of injuries. I don’t need much on each of those 3 topics, but just a general understanding.

(When I used a search engine to find websites to help me with my project, I mostly got chiropractor’s and chiropractic companies.)

A chiopractor focuses on the maintence of nerve and vascular functioning.
They work on adjusting the spine. There are times when a vertibra is putting pressure on nerve etc . This is called sublexation.
An injury can throw off the whole balance of the body causing misalignments.
They manilupate the spin sort of like when a person cracks their nuckles.
I avoided back surgery by going to a chiropractor. Also my carpel tunnel was helped by my chiropractor.
Healing and also good functioning of the body is maintained by proper blood flow and the healthy flow of blood.

Chiropractors are specialist on the spine of the human body. They would usually use a machine (forgotten the name of it) to test the tensions of your back muscle from your neck to the bottom of your spine (using a handheld machine running down your back)

The results are a measure of the degree of pull of your muscles on your spine, from the left side and the right side. If the muscles are pulling with equal tensions, that part of the spine would be alright. If the left muscle is pulling more then the right side, meaning the spine would be veering to the left, which would cause achings and sorts. That is what the chiropractor would find out and right the wrongs. But, if he finds abnormal readings, he would advise for an X-ray, before determining the counter-measures.

My wife’s spine (neck part) has abnormal growth e.g. the neck part archs into a backward curve. Her’s goes straight out instead of arcing, causing her head to be pushed out, like she is constantly straining to push her head forward.

The chiropractor advise going through a session of therapy which would cost me $2000 over, and advised my wife to lie on bed with a rolled towel under her neck for 30mins everyday before sleeping.

He said this is not something which can be cured by chiropractic measures but something which is cured overtime, which is why i did not go back to him (due to his high cost)

    Summary

    1. Chiropractors works on spine (spinal disc/re-alinement)
    2. Work directly on the symptoms. e.g, neck is craining forward. Lie on rolled towel (under neck) to ‘force’ to back overtime
    3. rehabilitation. – Do the correct thing e.g maintain the correct posture for walking and sitting over time)

Hope this clarify some of your questions

Maybe what they are doing do not have sound medical basis which is why there is scarcity of information about them. They’ve also been called quacks, FYI. maybe that’s where you can find info on them.
